Suitable roles.
History is a record of human progress, with a constant theme of breaking free. Somehow, people still continue to try to control other people. Perhaps on some metaphysical level this is supposed to be -- thus sparking a response that challenges the status quo, questioning patterns and practices that do not make sense in current times, if they ever did. As uncomfortable as it feels for some, pursuing answers to questions, relentlessly, is how we move forward. And the most interesting stories of leadership are those in which the person in charge illuminates the need for change, is decisive and makes way for others to join the tale.

Through the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, the university has joined a coalition of more than 60 partners across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. ...As part of the wide-ranging proposal, an electrolyzer would be built at the CRC’s Tech Center Research Park in Newport News to provide clean energy for the region, including the neighboring Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility Lab. An electrolyzer uses electricity to split water molecules into their constituent oxygen and hydrogen atoms.
Jeannette Walls in Virginia Living
Jeannette Walls: Very often families—like society—try to put us in roles we’re not suited for. ...Somebody once told me we become adults, not when we’re of age to vote or drink. It’s when we realize our parents are flawed human beings.
How Lavinia Fontana broke Renaissance tradition
Karen Chernick: Fontana is known mostly for her impressive life story. She was also the first known woman painter to depict female nudes. Less is known about the technical side of her work.
